The Intercultural Digital Storytelling Project #IDSP is excited to be hosting a series of community-initiated conversations this Fall term. #IDSP was launched two years ago in 2014 as an experiment in digital storytelling by TESOL-TFL Assistant Professor and Chair of the Intercultural Competence Committee, Dr. Netta Avineri, and DLC director, Bob Cole.
We invite Institute community members to participate in one or more of the #nestedstories events – participation in all of them is not required. Each session is independent, but all are connected to the others through the IDSP pillars: immersive learning, inductive research, peer mentorship, reflection, & digital media. If you missed the first session on September 27th, here’s a reflection on “Building Community Partnerships One Story at a Time,” by DLC graduate assistant, Lucy Jobe.
#IDSP17 Happening #2
“The Imaginative Leap – Intercultural Digital Storytelling & Empathy”
Thursday, October 27, 2016
12:15 – 1:45pm
DLC Design Space, McGowan 001 / 420 Calle Principal
During this interactive session we will explore storytelling as a technology for developing empathy and insight. Through a variety of storytelling exercises that can be used or adapted in a variety of contexts, participants will consider a number of underlying concepts, questions, and critical dispositions that have surfaced through the project while looking back at stories generated by the first cohorts of IDSP fellows.
