How many times have you psyched yourself up for a storytelling event at MIIS, only to learn that it conflicts with your own storytelling event? This is a pretty normal occurrence on our campus of storytellers, who are often so excited to tell our stories that we forget to listen to the stories that others are telling.
In the past month alone, we’ve celebrated and heard stories from the International Bazaar, Peace Corps Week, Innovators Brownbag, OPEN: disMIISing prejudice sponsored by Allies at MIIS, a Virtual Reality Geek Out at the DLC, the Monterey Forum on Localization, and the Fund for Innovation Festival.
So, yeah, you could say that a lot of people are telling stories, but we’ve found that not everybody is hearing these stories. How do we bring all of the storytellers together and encourage collaboration between storytelling groups? What does a broader storytelling group at MIIS look like? We have no idea, which is why we’re inviting you to the DLC on Tuesday, April 25 from 12-2 to talk about it!
Bring your lunch and join a handful of storytellers including your hosts, DLC graduate assistant Lucy Jobe and MPA student Kaitlyn Throgmorton in figuring out where storytelling at MIIS has been, where it is now, and where it’s going. All are welcome to come tell stories, share ideas, and meet other storytellers!
